Rajkummar Rao is set to play cricket legend Saurav Ganguly in his biopic soon. Before that, the actor will be seen playing a violent gangster in Maalik, a film that also stars Prosenjit Chatterjee. Recently, at the trailer launch of Maalik, Prosenjit congratulated Rajkummar for being part of the biopic, which is being helmed by Vikramaditya Motwane.

Speaking at the trailer launch, Prosenjit recalled meeting Saurav recently. “Just ten days ago, Sourav and I were chief guests at an event together. I hugged him and said, ‘I am going to meet Rajkummar soon. We’ve done a film together that’s about to release.’ I am so happy. Dada and Raj, that’s a great combination. And with Vikram, one of my favourite directors, I am sure it’s going to be a great film,” Prosenjit said.

Rajkummar refrained from commenting anything about it but just gave a smile in response. The biopic has long been in the making and Saurav recently confirmed that Rajkummar will be playing him in the film.

After this, even Rajkummar confirmed his association and said, “Now that Dada has already said it, let me also make it official. Yes, I am playing him in his biopic.”

It marks Rajkummar’s second collaboration with Vikramaditya after their much-acclaimed survival thriller Trapped (2014).

Meanwhile, Maalik is set to be released in theatres on July 11.
